The data in this API is free to reuse, including commercially, but the licences it is published under require you to credit the source wherever you show it. This is a condition of reuse, not a courtesy.
What to display
Anything from pay, employment, job adverts, occupations or descriptions
These come from the Office for National Statistics under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Display:
Source: Office for National Statistics licensed under the Open Government Licence v.3.0
Anything from demand
Occupations in demand is published by the Department for Education and Skills England under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Display:
Source: Occupations in demand, Department for Education and Skills England, licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0
Anything from work visas
The immigration system statistics are published by the Home Office under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Display:

Anything from vacancies
The Employer Skills Survey is published by the Department for Education and Skills England under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Display:

Anything from how to become
The job profiles are published by the National Careers Service under the Open
Government Licence v3.0. Each /how-to-become response carries this
statement in its attribution field; display it wherever the text is used:
Contains public sector information from the National Careers Service licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
Anything from apprenticeships
Skills England's API terms require two things wherever its data is shown: the
Skills England logo (the blue icon with black text, or the white version,
on a transparent background) and this statement, which each /apprenticeships
response also carries in its attribution field:
© Skills England 2025. This information is licensed under the Open Government Licence https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/doc/open-government-licence/version/3/
Anything from skills
Skills come from ESCO, the European Commission's classification. Any service that integrates ESCO, in whole or in part, must publish this statement exactly:
This service uses the ESCO classification of the European Commission
Anything from projections
The publisher asks that every use cite the projections in this form, which
each projections response also carries in its citation field:
Source: The Skills Imperative 2035 (2024), NFER/Nuffield/DfE/IER/CE, https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/labour-market-and-skills-projections-2020-to-2035
A note on licensing: the DfE publication is Crown copyright under the Open Government Licence, except where otherwise stated, and the workbooks state copyright held by the Warwick Institute for Employment Research and Cambridge Econometrics. The publisher's guidance plainly anticipates its figures being republished, including on public websites, and sets rules for doing so - which this service follows - but the projections are not covered by the Open Government Licence in quite the same unqualified way as the ONS data.
Anything from work profiles
Interests and abilities come from O*NET under the Creative Commons Attribution
4.0 licence, which requires a credit. Because this service averages and maps
them, the credit must say they were modified. Each work-profile response carries
the exact wording, with the database version, in its attribution field:
This service includes information from the ONET 31.0 Database by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration (USDOL/ETA). Used under the CC BY 4.0 license. ONET® is a trademark of USDOL/ETA. This service has modified all or some of this information. USDOL/ETA has not approved, endorsed, or tested these modifications.
ONET also asks that its name is used as an adjective ("ONET data"), never as a noun, plural or possessive.
Where to put it
Next to the figures is best. Where that is impractical - a mobile app, a dense dashboard - the Open Government Licence allows a link to a page carrying the statements instead.
Per-figure provenance
Every data response has a provenance block naming the dataset, publisher,
licence, edition and source URL. Use it to label figures precisely, for
example "Source: ONS, ASHE 2025 provisional".
/v1/meta/sources lists every source and its licence.
